Dr. Veronica Bermudez is the Senior Research Director of the Energy Center at QEERI (Qatar Environment Research Institute, part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) under Qatar Foundation). She is leading scientific and technological research, development and innovation at QEERI in the field of Renewable Energy focused in solar PV electricity generation and integration with a special focus PV technologies and solutions for desert and harsh environments. Prior to joining QEERI, she was Acting General Manager of the Technology Division of the Atsugi Research Center at Solar Frontier KK in Japan. She has also hold a position of Expert at EDF R&D, Senior Scientist at NEXCIS (start-up) and Head of the Optoelectronic Characterization Laboratory at IRDEP (EDF) in France, between others. She is in the Advisory Board of a number of entities and provides consultancy and high level strategic technology commercialization advice to global companies and small companies alike. The impact of her research has been acknowledged by the invitation to give keynote and plenary talks at different international events, as well as with the reception of several prestigious awards, including the 2007 International Schieber Prize, the Research and Development Leader of the Year from the Women in New Energy Leadership Awards 2022, between others. She is an Associate Editor in Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy also IEEE Senior Fellow. Dr. Bermudez is an internationally recognized expert authoring or co-authoring more than 120 scientific papers in renown journals, including Nature, Nature Energy and Science in clean and sustainable energy and in particular in photovoltaic materials and technologies in the whole value chain. She has extensive experience in laboratory to industry technology transfer in the field photovoltaics in almost the whole value chain and in particular in materials development, devices and processes scale up, power plant operations best practices, reliability, degradation and impact of weather conditions on performance ratio.

Dr. Nabih Cherradi, Chief Technology Officer at Desert Technologies a Saudi Company, played a pivotal role in founding the company and overseeing the development of its solar panel production plant. With over 34 years of experience in technology development, equipment manufacturing, and business development in the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries, he holds deep expertise in his field. Before Desert Technologies, Dr. Cherradi founded EmpowerSun a consultancy firm in Switzerland and co-founded ISWT a solar developer in France. As the VP and CTO at Yingli Green Energy, he contributed to its expansion and IPO on the NYSE. His tenure at Applied Materials involved overseeing the installation of gigawatts of generating capacity and playing a vital role in establishing several major solar panel production factories. Dr. Cherradi, also a scientist, held academic positions at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Beyond his professional roles, he is recognized as an expert and executive member in various international solar associations. He holds a doctorate in materials sciences from Henri Poincaré University and an MBA from École Supérieure de Commerce de Nancy in France.

Yousef Alhorr is the Founding Chairman of the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD), which is an RDI entity, recognized among leading organizations in the global sustainability milieu. Under Dr. Alhorr’s visionary leadership, GORD has made significant strides in promoting sustainable practices, conducting groundbreaking research, and implementing innovative solutions to address pressing environmental challenges.
Dr. Alhorr is also Founding Chairman of the Global Carbon Council (GCC), which is the first international voluntary carbon market and sustainable development program based in the Global South, accredited by the United Nation's International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the CORSIA scheme and the International Carbon Reduction and Offsetting Alliance (ICROA).
In 2023, Dr. Alhorr laid the foundation of GORD 3D, which provides the latest technologies within 3D printing, prototyping and digital inventories, etc. He also led the development of the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) – the first performance-based system in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, aimed at assessing and rating green buildings and infrastructures.

Herbert Klausner joined the regional management team from the Power and Gas Division at Siemens AG in Germany, where he headed Large Gas Turbine Berlin Operations. His career at Siemens spans more than 40 years, including positions in Kuwait, Indonesia, Austria and Germany. On June 1, 2020, he became Qatar and Kuwait Managing Director at Siemens Energy, following the company’s spin-out from Siemens AG.
Herbert started his career with Siemens in 1979 in Austria. Since then, he has worked across different teams and countries. His current post marks a return after eight years to Kuwait, where he held the position of Group Manager for Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Automation & Drives, Industry Solutions, and Siemens Building Technologies.
Herbert has an engineer degree from the TGM in Vienna, Austria. He enjoys spending time with his family, like’s mountain biking & reading in his free time.

Zaki Mohammed is a sustainability leader with almost two decades of experience in Sustainability, Energy Conservation, ESG, Research, Project Management, and Business consultancy services. As Director of Sustainability Advisory at GORD, he spearheads multidisciplinary teams, implementing innovative solutions for sustainable business practices. Zaki is instrumental in introducing state-of-the-art sustainability solutions to the built environment and has played a key role in educating a broad audience on Energy Efficiency. He has developed an easy-to-understand model for Net-Zero construction and refurbishment via the ESCO model. As a seasoned diplomat with over two decades of experience at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ambassador Ferdinand Lahnstein has held various leadership positions in the Netherlands and abroad. Most recently, he served as Inspector at the department for Inspection, Risk Analysis and Advisory Unit in The Hague (2019-2023). Prior to that, he was Deputy head of Mission/Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Indonesia (2015-2019) and Deputy Director for Financial and Economic Affairs Department/Director of Procurement at the MFA (2012-2015). A Dutch Senior Civil Servant, Ambassador Ferdinand Lahnstein holds an MSc degree in Economics, Public Administration and Taxation from Erasmus University Rotterdam (1989). Mr. Kishor Rajhansa is the Chief Operations Officer at Global Carbon Council, Doha, Qatar. He is mainly responsible for strategic and operational matters of the Global Carbon Council. He has been the acting member of the expert panel responsible for climate mitigation standards of UNFCCC (CDM Methodologies Panel) since 2017.
Being an Industrial Engineer and Master in Energy Management and Finance, Kishor has professional experience of 28 years in leadership positions in multi-national advisory, multilateral regulatory, and government organizations.
In his earlier role at UNFCCC for ten years he led CDM methodologies and standardized baselines team and supported intergovernmental negotiations under subsidiary bodies.
Before that, he provided energy management, climate change, and sustainability advisory at Ernst & Young India. He carried out hundreds of energy audits at a lead agency of the India-European Commission Energy Cooperation Programme.

Mr. Howard joined the Al-Attiyah Foundation in 2015 as the first professional to be employed directly by the Foundation.
Mr. Howard’s role is to supervise and create various items of energy news, reports and studies on energy related topics.
He comes from a long background in Energy Planning, Research and Economics with over 30 years of Middle Eastern experience. His previous employment was with Qatar Petroleum where he was a Manager responsible for Performance and Reporting within the Corporate Planning Directorate. Those were exciting times in QP and Qatar. It was the time of the great expansion in LNG, Pipeline line Gas and GTK projects. Mr. Howard played a full role in the implementation and monitoring of these projects.
Previous to this, he held similar roles in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Howard returned to the UK for a while and took part in the Electricity and Water Privatisation of both of those industries. He was also involved in the construction of the first Combined Cycle Gas Turbine electricity generation plants which transformed the electricity generation industry in the UK.

Dr. Antonio Sanfilippo is Chief Scientist at Qatar Environment & Energy Research Institute (QEERI), where he leads the Energy Management Program. Under his leadership, the QEERI Energy Management Program team has established renewable energy and smart grid capabilities that have become national points of reference for local and international stakeholders, including a network of solar monitoring stations, a 100 kWp microgrid testbed and a network of Phasor Measurement Units. Prior to QEERI, Dr. Sanfilippo was Chief Scientist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in the US, where he was awarded the Laboratory Director’s Award for Exceptional Scientific Achievement in 2008. Dr. Sanfilippo has also held positions as Research Director in the private sector, Senior Consultant at the European Commission, Research Supervisor and Group Manager at SHARP Laboratories of Europe, and Research Associate at the Universities of Edinburgh and Cambridge in the UK.
